Through a HUD grant, Kim Wilson Housing offers Beacon Homes, a permanent supportive housing (PSH) program that provides affordable, scattered-site units to chronically homeless adults in Wyandotte County.
PSH combines a housing subsidy with tailored support services, helping tenants maintain independence and rebuild their lives in safe, stable homes with no time limits on residency.

Coordinated Entry Assessment
Eligibility begins with a Coordinated Entry Assessment and placement on the Coordinated Entry List through the Continuum of Care Program.
Referral to Beacon Homes
Once approved, individuals are referred to the program and matched with available housing units.
Move-in and Ongoing Support
Tenants move into scattered-site homes and receive ongoing support to maintain housing stability and personal growth.

As long as you comply with the terms of your lease and remain eligible for the program, you can continue to live in Beacon Homes. This stability is a key component of successful long-term recovery and housing retention.
Support services are coordinated by Kim Wilson Housing and tailored to meet the specific needs of each tenant. Services may include case management, mental health support, life skills coaching, connection to community resources, and assistance with daily living, to ensure long-term housing success.
To get started with Beacon Homes, you’ll need a Coordinated Entry Assessment, performed through the Continuum of Care system. No. Permanent supportive housing operates on the Housing First model, which means sobriety is not a requirement for entry. We focus on providing safe, stable housing first, then offer voluntary services to support recovery and wellness.
Absolutely. Many of our tenants work, attend school, or participate in vocational programs. We encourage independence and will support you in pursuing your personal goals while maintaining housing.
