Getting started with youth mental health services at PACES is simple. Whether you’re a parent, guardian, or school professional, our intake team is here to support you through each step of the process.
First, we schedule an initial assessment to better understand your child’s needs. From there, we can recommend the most appropriate services—whether it’s therapy, case management, psychiatric support, or a combination.
We offer in-office and community-based options to make care accessible and convenient. You don’t need to have all the answers before you reach out. We’re here to walk alongside you and your child every step of the way.
If you, your child, or someone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts, personal distress, unusual behaviors, issues with medications, or a traumatic event, please connect with PACES right away by:
- Visiting our Crisis Clinic at 7840 Washington Ave, Kansas City, Kansas, 66112
- Crisis Clinic hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays
- Call our 24/7 Crisis Line at: (913) 788-4200
When you call, a mental health professional will answer the phone and take the time to talk to you about whatever it is you are struggling with. They can provide some ideas and tips to help you manage the weight of your emotions and experiences. They may also refer you to additional resources.

Robert’s Place opened in August of 2015 to provide temporary, emergency shelter for children and youth in Wyandotte County who are in crisis. Children who visit Robert’s Place have been removed from home following suspicions of abuse or neglect, have run away from home, or are experiencing a crisis at home.
We serve children and youth ages 3 to 17. Kids stay at Robert’s Place for approximately three days until professionals can work with families to ensure the child’s safety and well-being. Robert’s Place is the only shelter of its kind serving Wyandotte County. Since opening in 2015, we have been a safe haven for more than 300 children in crisis every year.
Robert’s Place is designed like a family home, welcoming its guests with seven bedrooms, a living room, a full kitchen and dining room, a recreation room, and play areas. Our shelter is ADA accessible with walkways and an elevator.
PACES has a long history of service to youth and their families in Wyandotte County. We have a record of collaborative relationships with many community partners, including school districts, local courts, local law enforcement, and the juvenile justice system.
As the safety net provider for Wyandotte County, we are dedicated to helping kids with emotional and behavioral health concerns and their families, regardless of their ability to pay.
Our goal is to help kids, heal families, and create hope on the road to recovery, so they can live happy, healthy lives.
